The protagonist (if he can be called such) of 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' returns in this film. Now seemingly retired to a relaxed life at an estate in Italy with his beautiful girlfriend, Tom Ripley (John Malkovich) applies his brilliance at manipulating people to play a most elegant game - turning an innocent local family man dying of cancer into a cool and capable murderer. The husband (Dougray Scott) is reluctantly drawn into Ripley's web with the promise of a handsome sum to leave for his wife and child. But as the unlikely pair carry out their training and their work, Ripley's game changes on him and all those involved. By the end, it's unclear just who will be left untouched, including the mastermind Ripley himself.
