After violent riots in the suburbs of Paris, the young Abdel is in hospital, left almost dead by a police beating. A friend of Abdel, an enraged Jewish named Vinz (Vincent Cassel) finds a gun that a policeman has lost in the riots and promises to avenge Abdel if he dies. Vinz, who sees himself as a soft of gangster has other two friends, Sayid (Saïd Taghmaoui) and the boxer Hubert (Hubert Koundé) which is also a drug dealer. To collect money from a rich drug dealer, they travel together from the suburbs into the central zone of Paris. Delayed by a skirmish with the police, they miss the last train back to their home and sleep in a shopping center. From the TV they learn that their friend Abdel has died. A dramatic confrontation with a group of skinheads and later with a racist policeman, will change forever their lives.
